Funeral services for Peggy Clowers Gartner, 68, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, February 3, 2011 at 10 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Joe Kannampuzha officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park. Mrs. Gartner was born April 12, 1942 in Foreman, Arkansas to the late Eunice (Davis) Butler and Sam B. Butler. She died Sunday, January 30, 2011 at her residence. Mrs. Gartner had retired as a District Secretary for Wal-Mart following 19 years of service. She was a member of the SPJST Lodge, the Polka Dot Club, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and the Angelina Community Playhouse. She was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Foreman, Arkansas. Mrs. Gartner had lived in Lufkin for the past 35 years, and was a former resident of Foreman, Arkansas. Survivors include her sons, Jody Clowers of Lufkin and James Clowers of Virginia; granddaughter, Shelby M. Clowers of Texarkana; grandson, Colton G. Clowers of Texarkana; sister and brother-in-law, LaVerne and Bobby Manley of Graford, Texas; stepchildren, Melanie Carpenter of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Bob Gartner of Houston, Crystal Carpenter and Katrina Gregory, both of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and brother-in-law, Taylor Davis of Foreman, Arkansas. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gartner was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Gartner, and sister, Syble Davis. Pallbearers will be Larry Parten, David Lee, Thomas Rainey, Glenn Lenderman, Kent Henson and Randy Kendrick. Honorary pallbearers will be David Sharp and Kelly Kendrick. The family will receive friends and loved ones from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Memories and condolences may be added at www.carrowayfuneralhome.com. James, Jody, Shelby, and Colton,

Although your mom and grandmother was such a brief part of my life, I felt very fortunate to treasure a little part of it. As she maintained herself with such dignity she was a person who had deep feelings and lived her life though a peaceful connection with them. That is something I shall always remember about her.
