Peggy Campbell Long

Peggy Campbell Long, aged 90, passed away on August 2, 2025, in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Born on March 23, 1935, Peggy was a beacon of love and care throughout her life, dedicating herself to the wellbeing of her family and all those around her.

Peggy began her career as a cosmetologist in Danville, Virginia, but her life took a devoted turn towards caregiving following her husband William James Long's severe heart attack. Her role expanded as she cared for her son Donald through his own health battles, never wavering in her support and love. Even after the loss of her husband, Peggy's dedication to her family remained unwavering.

She is remembered as an exceptionally caring and loving daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her culinary skills, particularly her southern style cooking, brought joy and comfort to many gatherings, making her famous for her cornbread and biscuits with chipped beef gravy.

Peggy is survived by her sons, William and Donald; grandchildren, Kristen (husband Anthony) and Brianna; and great-grandchildren, Salem and Violet. She was preceded in death by her husband, William James Long; parents, Donald Lee Campbell and Mildred Pauline McClurd; and brothers, Max, Donald Lee Jr., and Carl Patrick Campbell.
