Peggy Putnam

MOUNT HOLLY - Peggy Jean Nixon Putnam, 86, lifetime resident of Mount Holly, passed away on Tuesday February 16, 2021 at the Robin Johnson Hospice House.  She was daughter of the late William Clinton Nixon and Hettie Lawing Nixon. Peggy graduated from Mount Holly High School in 1952. She was a 74 year member of First United Methodist Church in Mount Holly where she was very active holding many offices over the years. She was voted Mount Holly Woman of the Year in 2004 and FUMC Lay Person of the Year in 2009. She found her calling after retiring by working at the Mount Holly Community Relief Organization. She was happy with a book to read or in the kitchen trying a new recipe. Peggy enjoyed watching after her great grandsons or traveling. She was a die hard fan of Carolina Basketball and football and Atlanta Braves baseball. She loved the beach.

She is survived by her daughters Julie Putnam of Charlotte, Donna Putnam of Mount Holly, granddaughter Heather Shrewsbury (Charles) of Mount Holly, great grandsons Jason and Brayden, sister Betty Hall, nieces Leslie Killian (Richard), Michelle Rembowski (Dave).

A graveside service will be held 11:00am Saturday February 20, 2021 at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery.
