Pegi Emily Stentz

Pegi Emily Stentz passed away on May 30, 2025 after a long fight with breast cancer. She died at home surrounded by her family in Portland, Oregon.

Pegi is survived by her husband Jim Stentz, daughter Molly Stentz and son-in-law John Peck of Brooklyn, Wisconsin, son Alex Stentz and daughter-in-law Amy Win of Portland, Oregon and granddaughter Ruby Celeste Stentz-Win. She is also survived by her sisters Suzi Jones and Debi Justus, and mother Joan Henderson of Odessa, Florida. She is preceded in death by her father Howard Justus and stepmother Nancy Justus.

Pegi, or P.J. as she was known, grew up in Tampa, Florida, and lived in the San Francisco Bay Area before settling in Miami, Florida and raising her family. She loved plants, animals, children, music and art. She was an avid gardener, quilter and artist who had a very strong connection to nature. She loved visiting our national parks and impressed her friends by backpacking and hiking thousands of miles of the Pacific Crest Trail in the Western United States. She later ran her own antiques and collectibles business in Florida for many years before illness forced her retirement.

At Pegi's request, in lieu of a memorial service, donations can be made to one of her favorite non-profit organizations, Cascadia Wild. Their mission is to connect people to the natural world.
