Percy Mills, Jr Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jan. 11 to Jan. 18, 2024.
Percy B Mills Jr, 81, of Lyndeborough NH, passed away peacefully, in his home surrounded by his family on January 4th, 2024.

Percy was born in West Hartford, VT on March 17th, 1942. The son of Percy B Mills and Elizabeth (Lizzy) Mills. As a young adult Percy worked for Clifford's Garage in West Hartford, VT. In 1963 he met his future wife, and love of his life, June Ann (West) Mills. In 1967 they moved to Milford NH. They got married on July 26th, 1969, in Amherst NH at what was then known as the "Little Community House." Together they had 4 children that they raised in Milford until moving to Lyndeborough in 1986. Once in Lyndeborough he discovered his love for horse pulling and soon bought his own pair of horses.

Percy loved to participate in the New England fair scene, with his wife June by his side, bringing home many ribbons and trophies throughout the years. He had a long, successful career of 25+ years at Campers Inn in Merrimack, NH where he made many lifelong friends. Percy enjoyed traveling with his wife, spending time with his family, attending horse pulls as a spectator, tinkering with his tractor and doing projects around his "Rocky Acre Homestead." He will always be fondly known as "The Mayor of 621 Forest Rd."

Percy is pre-deceased by his wife of 50 years, June Ann Mills, his son, Timothy Mills, his son in law Mark Moul, and his daughter Becky Moul who passed just one month before him.

Percy is survived by his daughters Heidi (Mills) Lumibao and her husband Robert of Lyndeborough NH, Lisa Mills and her partner Brian Silk of Milford NH. His grandchildren Benjamin Colby and his wife Annie of Jaffrey NH, Denis Colby and his wife Kenis of Fuquay-Verina NC, Johanna Jordan and her husband Corey of Port St. Lucie FL, Ryan Mills of Antrim NH, Jasmine Roach and her husband Walter of Marlborough NH, Desirae Blackmore and her husband Kyle of Jaffrey NH, Hunter Mills and his wife Shawna of Bennington NH, Summer Mills and her partner Christina of Hillsborough NH, Amber Silk of Milford NH and Logan Mills of Hillsborough NH. Also, his great grandchildren, Kaia (Colby) Somero and her husband Connor of Jaffrey NH, Paeton Moul of Champlain VT, Kaiden Colby of Jaffrey NH, Cheyenne Roach, Savannah Roach and Walter Roach V all of Marlborough NH and Sylvie Mills of Bennington NH. He also leaves behind one sister, Sue Armstrong, and her husband Gordon of FL, as well as his dear friend and late daughter, Becky's, partner Donald Bubble of Francestown NH.

A celebration of Percy's life will be held on February 24th, 2024, at The Barbara C Harris Camp and Conference Center, 108 Wally Stone Lane, Greenfield NH from 11am-3pm. I remember the name when I was younger. He was ahead of me in school. But in grade school in the same area. Sounds like he did well for himself and family. Pround of things I read of those that came from my hometown. Prayers to his family and friend.

Uncle Jr and Aunt June came to Indiana for visits many times and at times would bring Gram. This picture was taken on the front porch of where Gary and I lived in 1975. I so love the memories I have of our visits. The last time I was there to see him and Aunt June was when my daughter Lisa lived in Boston and we drove to see them with my grandson Brenden who was a diehard Colts fan and he and Uncle Jr bet on the upcoming game between the Colts and Patriots. Brenden lost a dollar and made sure I sent it to Uncle Jr.
Love and many prayers to everyone as you transition without him. Kathy
(Daughter of Rita, who was sister to Uncle Jr.)
