Peter Blessing Obituary
Peter E. Blessing, 65, passed away Saturday, January 1, 2011, at St. Elizabeth Health Care, Florence. He was a resident of Union, Ky. Peter was vice president of flight operations for ASTAR Air Cargo. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy and Naval Reserves, retiring with the rank of captain, and a member of St. Timothy Church. Survivors include his wife, Linda Blessing; sons, Peter, Russell and Garrett; daughters, Amy, Molly and Katherine; brother, Robert Blessing; and three grandchildren, Carter, Tyler and Lindsey. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Burlington, Ky., and Friday at St. Timothy Church, 9 to 10 a.m., in Union, Ky. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. Burial with Military Honors will occur in Arlington Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Dept. of Development, Mayo Clinic, 200 First St., S.W. Rochester, MN 55902.

Sad to hear of Pete's passing. My late husband, Rod"Skipper" Scamahorn worked with him at DHL Airways. He respected and enjoyed working with Pete and made sure that I was met him when I visited DHL. My deepest sympathy to Pete's family, friends and his airline family.

It was really very sad to hear about Pete, my heart felt condolences to his family. I had always enjoyed working with him while I was with DHL Airways for 15 years in Flight Operations. He will be missed.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Captain Peter Blessing's passing. I have known and enjoyed working with Pete for 20 years. I will miss his friendship and dedication to the profession. My most sincere condolences to his family.

Linda and family, I was saddened to hear about Pete. I wish there were words to write that would help to ease your grief. I figure Jim has tracked him down by now and has him cornered somewhere with a few cold ones until he gets caught up on all the Astar and other news. It is with a heavy heart we the members of Rolling Thunder Chapter 3 PA, join the family and friends of Captain Peter Blessing in mourning the loss of a brother in arms. His willingness to stand on the wall that separates good from evil and declare,” no harm will come to you tonight, not on my watch” made our life the most secure in the world. As an organization, Rolling Thunder Chapter 3 PA. salutes the memory of Captain Blessing and the service he rendered his country.
