Peter CALLEN Obituary
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our wonderful Peter. He was born on July 10, 1922, in Angusville, Manitoba, and passed away peacefully on July 22, 2014 just after his 92nd birthday. Peter was predeceased in 2007 by Bonnie, his beloved wife of 67 years. Peter will be lovingly remembered by his family, including his dearest daughter Joan (John); his grandchildren Eric Gajda (Heather), Peter Gajda (Robin), Christopher Gajda (Karen), Michael Ocampo (Michael) and Cynthia Nontell (Tyler); his great-grandchildren Jonathan, Kaitlyn, Jordan, Samantha, Matiana, Calvin, Cole and Conner; and his very special extended family Annette and Joe Viscomi and their children Teresa, David and Elizabeth. Predeceased by his brothers Matt, Bill, Steve and Mervyn; and his sisters Katie, Doris and Betty. Peter is survived by his brother Stanley and by numerous nieces and nephews. Peter retired as a Captain from the Windsor Fire Department. He was an honoured veteran of WWII, serving with the 3rd Division 7th Brigade of the Royal Winnipeg Rifles. A proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 188 (Kingsville) and a life member and Past Master of Masonic Thistle #34, Peter was also a Past District Deputy Grand Master of the Masonic Lodge for the Windsor area. His smile and sense of humour could light up a room. Peter was selfishly devoted to his family. His passion for golf, fishing, billiards and card playing, and the joy it gave him and others will be greatly missed. Visitation will occur at

on Friday, July 25, 2014 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., with Legion Service at 2:30 p.m. and Masonic Services at 7:30 p.m. Family and friends are asked to gather at St. Andrew's Anglican Church (205 Laurier Drive, LaSalle, Ontario) on Saturday, July 26 for the Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Shriners Hospitals for Children or the Palliative Care Unit for Windsor Regional Hospital.

You will be sadly missed by all that knew you. You were always there to help when the family needed you. When the family started to come to Windsor you took them in until they were able to find lodgings of their own. It was a great help to have someone who knew the area. You served your country when it needed you and as a fireman of the Windsor Fire Department you helped keep your city of Windsor safe. Your whole life was one serve to others. Our deepest sympathies to daughter Joan and her family from niece Verna Cotey and family, nephews Willie and Howard Kalyn. We all loved you Uncle Peter. You are peace now.

To a wonderful man that we d had the pleasure of meeting.He always had such a smile on his face when he seen his friends. we enjoyed all the time we spent with him in Arizona playing cards marbles and all the dancing we went to will miss you be happy with your Bonnie in heaven.
