Peter Coleman Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Aug. 26 to Aug. 29, 2021.
Peter J. Coleman August 25, 2021 Heaven became a much more colorful place when Peter arrived on August 25, 2021, after a brief illness. Peter was born on December 30, 1936 on Tipperary Hill, a place near and dear to his heart, where he attended St. Patrick's School. It was a place so special to him, that he chose to return there to enjoy his final years with the love of his life, Mary Pat. He could often be found patrolling his beloved neighborhood in his golf cart, greeting everyone he came upon. Peter was the proprietor of Coleman's Authentic Irish Pub, where he created a favorite gathering spot for many generations and shared his gift for making people feel welcome and special. Of all his accomplishments, Peter's greatest source of pride and joy was his family, who will miss him immensely. He was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Josephine, his brother Michael, his sister, Winnie and his twin sister, Pat. Peter is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Pat, his children, Beth (Mickey) Deehan, Patrick (Courtney) Coleman, Peter (Jill Pitts) Coleman, Jr., Bridget (Dan) Bullock, Danny (Heather) Coleman and Dennis (Kathleen) Coleman, as well as 16 grandchildren who cherished their "Papa" – Doran, Nolan, Curran, Delia, Patrick, Thunder, Sully, Leigha, Luke, Brianna, Lilly, Isabelle, Teddy, Reilly, Reagan and Griffin, whom he absolutely adored as well as his sister, Mary Jo Coleman and brother Danny (Valerie) Coleman, and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Monday, August 30, 2021 at St. Patrick's St. Brigid's Church, 216 N. Lowell Ave. Calling hours will be held from 1 to 4pm on Sunday, August 29, 2021 at the church. Family request everyone to wear a mask. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Tipperary Hill Neighborhood Association c/o Janice McKenna 110 South Lowell Avenue Syracuse, NY 13204 Please share condolences at edwardjryanandson.com

I've known Peter causually since the early 1980,s...worked on some of his cars and had my "between" my wedding and reception stop there in 1986. Peter and my wife are keeping a seat warm for me, I'm more than sure, in Heaven.

With My deepest sympathy and a prayer. When ever
Whenever We were in Syracuse we would have a wonderful lunch at Colemans and Peter would come and sit for some chit chat. His smile was infectious as was the reminiscing talk of the past. RIP My friend. John and Gretchen Kavanaugh

I know that Peter was your loving husband, father, brother, grandpa, friend ... But to Tipp Hill, Pete Coleman was an institution ... a face, a smile, a humor we all cherished. The West End will not be the same without Peter. We stand - in grief - on this shore saying, "Oh no, he is gone from our sight." While on the other shore, Peter´s friends and family who have gone before him cry out, "Ahh, here he comes!" I like to think of this great reunion in which all those who had loved Peter now hold him gently for all eternity. I will keep you in my prayers.

So sorry for your loss. I was his Polish Painter. He was a bit of a mentor, a bit of a friend and a lot of other stuff that helped me appreciate my roots. He loved his family and bragged about his kids.
God bless you Mrs. C, MaryJo,Winny, Marbeth and the boys.

Mary Pat we will all miss him dearly. He was the best boss and friend anyone could ever ask for. Whenever we came back to Syracuse for a visit we would always stop in and visit with Pete. Just last year I was showing one of my children the plaque that Pete put up for "Nutty" Martin and recalled the days at the "Pit".
