Peter Newell Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 6, 2012.
Peter was born in Dedham MA in 1938. He served in the US Air Force after graduating from Eau Claire High School in Columbia SC. Peter is survived by his wife Trudy of 34 years,7 children, 14 grandchildren, and some very dear friends in Columbia SC and here in Arvada CO

Peter was a very loving and compassionate person. Very friendly and easy to talk with.
He was a true salty dog. When he was just 10 yrs old he built a small boat without instructions or any help.. When he was a little older, (about 37yr) he built another boat- 40 ft catamaran. Sailing was his true passion. Other interests included ham radio, playing petanque (a game we learned from the french canadians) and working in ancestry.com.

He was an electronics engineer at the Johnson Space Center in Houston for 14 years, first in mission control and then in the astronaut training center. After that we became fulltime RV'ers working and staying in different RV resorts and lovin it. We also lived in Florida for several years and then moved here to Colorado.

I never met Pete but he and I shared some funny jokes through email.
I shared some items I made using Paint Shop Pro and a web site I built. Pete was always encouraging and complimentary on my work.
May you rest in peace, Pete.

I will always have fond memories of Pete. He was a good and true friend.
God speed, and God bless.
