As an avid snowmobiler, I first met Pete at several years ago at was was called the Hogsbreath Saloon in Dwight. That night we talked for hours. Pete left a lasting impression on me, so much that everytime we find ourselves in the Dwight area, we look for him, it was always a highlight to hold conversation and laugh! He will be missed.

Peter Purcell was my father and I will miss him deeply. His amazing sense of humour, even while in the hospital when he was very ill was superb. My Dad had a warm heart and always welcomed anyone into his cottage on Smoke Lake. Sometimes one's presence is so large that it cannot help but be noticed, that was my Dad. I loved him and will always miss him.

Uncle Pete lived until he died. So fortunate for us to have been able to see him just the week before he went into hospital...he rode his atv, drove himself to Huntsville for some therapy, and was so hospitable to us he even offered to take us to dinner the evening we arrived. We declined as we could tell he was in some pain and didn't want to put him through more. He never lost his relentless sense of humor nor his taste for fast food. We were also very impressed with the way kept up and added to the cottage. He and the time we had with him will be very fondly remembered.

"You can easily judge the character of a man by how he treats those who can do nothing for him."
-James D. Miles
From the clerk at the LCB, the ranger at the East Gate, to the "players" of the business world; I always knew him to treat everyone the same. He was unique and will be surely missed by all who knew him. He always left me with a smile on my face and an open invitation to return. His body wore out but his spirit will live on in the hearts and memories of those who loved him.
I was so proud to be able to call him, Uncle Pete.
Love,

Years from now, someone will mention "Big Pete" Purcell, and it will bring a smile to all our faces as we recall one or many stories. It was an honour to have crossed paths with this classy gentleman. My thoughts to all of you.
