I'm so sorry to hear about Peter. Back in the mid-70s he guided me through my M.Mus. recital and it sometimes seems like only yesterday. Sincere condolences to Joan and all others who loved him. Will McGuffin

Peter was the best teacher I ever had, and later he became one of my favorite friends. He and Joan were always incredibly welcoming and kind to my family. I´m grateful to him for sharing his love for nature and music, and for introducing me Whitefish three decades ago. He was a really special person and will be missed.

In my minds eye I see Peter walking his beloved collie Lisel; upright, impeccably groomed and impossibly frail for such an endeavor but doing it with absolute dedication regardless of weather or road conditions. I see him worrying over Joan, holding her hand, encouraging her to eat the breakfast I'd made. I see him fretting over every shrub, tree or flower and inviting me out to see them and celebrate them while he reminisced about the overwhelming beauties of Montana. Peter talked about his wife, his children and his students and their accomplishments with pride. He told me Joan had a more beautiful voice than he did. Peter was fully engaged with Life, seeking beauty and creating beauty and fretting when it was destroyed. He cared deeply. It was a privilege to be there to help him in his declining years. He will be missed.

Peter was one of a kind. He always greeted everyone with a smile and asked about their lives. His baritone voice resonates loudly, whether on earth or no doubt in heaven.
