Peter Scutt, 88, of Northmoreland Twp., passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023, surrounded by family and friends.
He was born Nov. 1, 1934, in Plains Twp., to James and Nettie Rock Scutt.
Peter was an avid baseball player and during his youth, he attended the Johnstown games in 1952. Furthermore, Peter was a passionate whitetail hunter and outdoor enthusiast and hunted for more than 75 years. Many of those years were spent with his best hunting buddy and nephew, James Scutt III (aka Buck Rub). Pete had a love of gardening, and most days during the nice weather, you would find him working in his beloved garden all day.
He had a great sense of humor - not only could he recognize the value in making others laugh, but prioritized laughter for himself and as a result, he was healthier and happier for it.
Pete was employed by BF Goodrich for 38 years until his retirement, and then continued working in landscaping for the next 12 years with his brother, Jim.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Thomas Scutt; brothers, James and Thomas Scutt; and sister, Mary Scutt Magyar.
Surviving are his daughters, Nancy Eaton, Tunkhannock; Patricia Dale, West Pittston; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral Panachida service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday from Yeosock Funeral Home, 40 S. Main St., Plains Twp. A viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday with funeral services immediately following from the funeral home, 40 S. Main St., Plains Twp., with Rev. Michael Evans officiating. Interment will be in Fern Knoll Burial Park, Dallas.
