Philip Lane Gattis, 50, of Lakeland, TN passed away Monday, January 30, 2017 at Methodist Hospital-Germantown. He was a project manager with Pyramid Electric and a member of Leawood Baptist Church-East. Philip was a devoted family man and loved his family dearly. He leaves behind his wife of 25 years, Joy Thetford Gattis; children, Megan, Krista and John Robert Gattis all of the home; parents, Jack and Thelma Gattis of Germantown, TN; sister, Amanda Gibson (Scott) of Olive Branch, MS. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m., Thursday, February 2 at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd., Bartlett, TN. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be sent to the Epilepsy Foundation Middle & West Tennessee, 95 White Bridge Road, Nashville, TN 37205 www.epilepsytn.org. Joy and family, I am deeply saddened to hear of Phil's passing. He was a dear friend to me in college, so much so, that he was one of my groomsmen in my wedding in 1991. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with your family and that Phil will be deeply missed by all of the folks like me that his life touched.

So very sorry to hear of Phil's passing. We were good friends as teenagers and were in Boy Scouts together and had great times camping, and just hanging out. Praying for comfort for all of the family. God bless you all.

Phil was a beacon of light in an otherwise rough industry. I could always count on his encouraging words. His Bible was never far from him, on his desk or his drawing table. A man well respected and admired for his walk with the Lord. My sincerest condolences for your loss.

Terrible, terrible news. Phil was always good for not just a smile, but at least a chuckle every morning in home room. He was quick to laugh, even when we had to keep it quiet. He was good at football, amusing at lunch, and will surely be missed. Best wishes to Mrs. Gattis, Megan, Krista, John Robert and everybody who's sad about Phil.

Never thought we'd see this day so soon. I'm reflecting on all the fun and challenges we had in high school and shortly thereafter. Phil was a remarkable man and I will miss our talks, vents and laughs. He was always there to help if he could (even when he couldn't, he would still help).
