PHILIP HIAT Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 15, 2022.
HIAT--Rabbi Philip. The Board of Directors and staff of Met Council on Jewish Poverty mourn the passing of Rabbi Philip Hiat who dedicated his life to others. Rabbi Hiat was the devoted father of our Chair Emeritus Merryl Tisch and the loving grandfather of our Co-President Benjamin Tisch who are both longtime supporters and advocates for the neediest New Yorkers. We extend our deepest sympathies to Merryl and Benjamin and the entire Hiat and Tisch families during their time of loss. Joseph Allerhand Co-President Richard Mack, Chair David G. My condolences to the Hiat family. I was the first president of Hillel at Marymount Manhattan College back in 1980 and worked closely with Rabbi Harvey Tattlebaum from Temple Shaaray Tefila. May his memory be a blessing.

Professor Philip Hiat was my very best, most inspiring teacher at Marymount Manhattan College. I was fortunate, maybe even blessed to have been in his class.
My sincere condolences to his family.

Rabbi was a Torah treasure appreciated by all who knew him. His passing leaves a hole that will not be filled.
