Mr. Phil Sapienza, 83, passed away Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Conway Medical Center.
Born August 12, 1932 in Bronx, NY, he was the son of the late Dr. Frank Sapienza and the late Marion Stack Sapienza. Mr. Sapienza was member of the Catholic Church of St. James. He retired from Alpha Metals in Jersey City, NJ where he worked as a Quality Control Manager. He was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Phil was also a model train enthusiast. He was predeceased by one brother, Frank Sapienza.
Survivors include his wife, Jackie Sapienza; his daughter, Dr. Phyllis Sapienza Schaeffer and her husband Dr. John Schaeffer of Missoula, MT and their children, Kaitlyn, Matthew, Taylor and Rachel Schaffer; his son, Dr. Gary Sapienza and his wife Rochelle of Merchantville, NJ and their children, Gabrielle and Paige Sapienza; and his son, Karl Sapienza and his wife Pamela of Ft. Worth, TX and their children, Kyle, Jacob, Isabelle, Harrison and Grace Sapienza; and his brother, John Sapienza and his wife Irene of Bronx, NY.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00AM Thursday, January 21, 2016 at the Catholic Church of St. James, officiated by Father Sam Oloyede.
Memorial donations may be made to the Catholic Church of St. James, 1071 Academy Drive, Conway, SC 29526 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
