ASHEBORO - Phillip Ray Chavis, 31, of 1707 Lantern Dr., Asheboro, died Tuesday, March 20, 2007, at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 23, at Antioch Christian Church, 5789 Antioch Church Road, Seagrove, with Rev. Gerald Ward and Rev. David Rollins officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Chavis was a native of Randolph County, was a 1994 graduate of Eastern Randolph High School, and was a U.S. Marine Corps. veteran. He was a member of Antioch Christian Church and was employed as a brick mason.
He is survived by his wife, Annette G. Chavis; daughters, Bailey Annette Chavis, Skylar Heaven Chavis; sons, Chesney Marine Chavis, Dayton Stone Chavis all of the home; mother and stepfather, Anna Jane and Mickey Currin of Ramseur; father, Redell Chavis, Jr. of Lexington; mother-in-law, Beverly Owens and her husband, Wayne of Asheboro; father-in-law, Royce Goins and his wife, Tommy Ann of Ramseur; sisters, Amanda Chavis of Asheboro, Kim Dale Snipes and her husband, Stephen of Durham, Melisa Chavis Graham of Ramseur; and Sarah York and her husband, Tim of Coleridge; brothers, Dustin L. Chavis of Ramseur and John "J.D." Currin and his wife, Angie of Asheboro.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday at the church.
Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro is in charge of the arrangements.
