Philomena "Phil" Martinez

Philomena (Phil) Martinez (nee Sanzo), age 96, added her voice to the heavenly choir on 09/03/2016. She was bom in Collinwood, with a song in her heart.
After losing her husband in 1969, she went back to work and learned how to drive. She retired from Royal Plastics at age 75. She was a sixty year resident of Willowick.
She was a devoted wife and mother, and surrogate 'mom' to many high school football players and area musicians.
Phil loved her family, and particularly enjoyed holiday meals with the entire gang. She always made room at the table for those who were alone.
Phil is survived by her children, Elena Martinez, Joseph Martinez (Ellen), Celeste Martinez and Anthony Martinez (Ronda). She is also survived by eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and eight great-great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Henry Martinez; son Raymond; granddaughter, Laura Ann Martinez; parents, Helep and Jack Sanzo; sister, Vinnie Shea and brother, Ralph Sanzo.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at St. Mary Magdalene Church, 32114 Vine St., Willowick.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12, 2016 at Orlando-Donsante Funeral Home, 29550 Euclid Ave., Wickliffe. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery, Chardon, Ohio.
