Polly Lincoln Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 3, 2016.

Polly Kinnear Lincoln of West Hartford, CT died on January 29, 2016 after a long illness. She was 89 years old. Polly was born in Pittsburgh, PA and raised in Fox Chapel, PA where she grew up with a passion for horses, both jumping and fox hunting. Upon graduating from Miss Porter's School in Farmington CT, she earned her BA from Sarah Lawrence College in NY and from there she earned her MA from Teachers College at Columbia University. She married Martin Le Boutillier in 1958 and raised two sons in Manhattan where she spent her early career teaching elementary school but focused the bulk of her career on tutoring children with learning disabilities. While in NY she was a student at the International Center for Photography where she specialized in insect photography and was also a docent at the American Museum of Natural History. In 1985, she married Gilbert (Gibby) Lincoln of West Hartford. She became President of the Connecticut Valley Garden Club, a member of the Saturday Morning Club and the Hartford Golf Club, a tutor for West Middle School and a docent at the Wadsworth Athenaeum. She also volunteered in numerous outreach programs at Asylum Hill Congregational Church. Polly and Gibby enjoyed their summers at their home in Old Black Point where they were avid croquet players and beach goers. Polly leaves behind two sons, two step-sons and their wives, a step-daughter and her husband, five grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, a devoted younger brother and many, many friends. Services are to be held at Asylum Hill Congregational Church in Hartford, CT Saturday, February 6th at 11:00 am. Polly's family extends our gratitude to Duncaster Assisted Living and Duncaster's Caleb Hitchcock Health Center for providing love, care and support for Polly over these past few years.

On behalf of the Saturday Morning Club of Hartford, we extend condolences to Polly's extended family. She was a cherished member of our club for many years, and I myself remember a paper she wrote about her native Pittsburgh which was so interesting and full of civic pride. She will be missed.
