Portia Leola Cummings Pyle Hawley 1944 ~ 2010 Portia Hawley of Orem, Utah, passed away on 29 December 2010 in Orem. She was born to Marjorie Cummings and Edward A. Pyle on 29 November 1944 in Berkley, California. She attended elementary and junior high schools in Berkley and graduated from Las Lomas High School in Walnut Creek, California. She received an AA in English degree from Brigham Young University. She married Don B Hawley on 26 August 1967 in the Oakland LDS Temple and supported him through dental school in San Francisco. She was a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker. Portia loved everyone and showed a loving and caring spirit to all. Her Christ-like spirit is shown through her many hours of service to church and family. She served as Stake Relief Society Counselor, in the Ward, YW presidency, and was a faithful visiting teacher. She worked for seven years as an ordinance worker in the Mount Timpanogos Temple and served as shift coordinator. She served with her husband in the England London Mission for 18 months returning recently on December 7, 2010. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Dr. Don B Hawley, son Dr. Jeffrey E. (Evelyn) of Tooele, daughter Deborah (John Meese) of Saratoga Springs, Utah; son, Jason S. of Riverton; son, Robert D. (Rachel) of Saratoga Springs, Utah; and a daughter, Julianne (Seth Finch) of Cape Gerardo, MO. She has 14 grandchildren with one deceased. Memorial services will be held in the Orem Utah Canyon View 3rd Ward Chapel at 762 East and 1200 North, Orem, on Tuesday, January 4, 2011, at 1 PM. She will be interred in the Orem City Cemetery prior to the services.
