BEHRINGER R. JACK
Retired Grove City College athletic director R. Jack Behringer, age 86, of Grove City, passed away at home Wednesday, October 5, 2011 after an extended illness. He was born in Lima, OH on May 13, 1925 to Adam and Bertha Behringer. Jack married Jeanne Lisk on June 8, 1947. Mr. Behringer began his career at Grove City College in 1956. He guided the College's Department of Physical Education and Athletics through an era of unparalleled growth and transition from 1957 to 1996. Jack served in the WW II with the US Army Aircorp and was a member of East Main Presbyterian Church, Grove City, PA. Jack is survived by his wife, Jeanne, at home; along with two nieces, and a great-niece and nephew. The funeral service celebrating the life of R. Jack Behringer will be held at The Harbison Chapel, 100 Campus Drive, Grove City College, Grove City on Monday, October 10, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME, INC., 306 Bessemer Avenue, Grove City, PA on Sunday, October 9, 2011 from 2 to 5:00 p.m. Private Internment: Springfield Cemetery, Findley Twp, Mercer Co. In Lieu of flower memorial tributes to: R. Jack Behringer Scholarship Fund, c/o Grove City College, 101 Campus Dr or the Grove City Y.M.C.A., 543 E. Main St., both Grove City, PA 16127

I am thinking of Jack and his beautiful wife, our sorority mother. I wish that I could be there to share his life with her. Thanks for all you did for us, Mrs. Behringer. We will miss your dear husband Jack.

Coach Behringer was a Grove City icon and will always be remembered for his service, leadership, and style, as well as his engaging sense of humor. He will be greatly missed.
