R. Morang Obituary
Dean grew up in Bar Harbor and graduated from Bar Harbor High School in 1965. He married Ellen W. Willey, June 3, 1967, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Bar Harbor. He attended the University of Maine at Machias and graduated in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science degree. Dean worked for Bangor Hydro. He was a gun and Hot Wheels collector, loved NASCAR and going to the races at Louden, N.H. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time at camp, and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen; son, Robert D. Morang and wife, Brandi, of Ellsworth; daughter, Amy M. Pidhurney and husband, James, of Auburn, N.H.; grandchildren, Amber, Reese, Carson, Spencer and Charlotte; brother, Edd Morang of Bangor; nephews, Jesse and James Morang; Aunt Sal and Uncle Al Robbins of Salisbury Cove.
A memorial Mass will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 21 Ledgelawn Ave., Bar Harbor, with Father John O'Hara, celebrant. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dean's memory may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675. Arrangements by Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth. Condolences may be expressed at www.jordanfernald.com.

Dean and I go back a few years. In high school we were team-mates: football and basketball and track. I always looked up to his athletic skill and strength. That strength gave him some extra years, and gave us a chance to share those years with him.

Ellen, Amy and Rob,
My thoughts are with you and your families. I am in shock to hear of Dean's passing. I will never forget the great memories with your family. Never will forget sitting in the boat waiting for the tide to come in. He used to laugh about screwing his "arm" to the wall and waiting until his kids came home from school to get him down. We have had so many laughs. Dean taught me so much. Just keep in mind that he will still be watching over you all.
