More: I haven't seen Vance in many years but even after all the time that has passed, I still have fold memories of the life we shared at Newman school, Tulane University, and Deke. Vance had a rare zest for life and a colorful imagination. From his obituary, it is apparent this didn't change. I am sorry he went out of our lives here in New Orleans. Our loss was your gain.

Vance was one of a kind - he made life interesting for those who knew him. In New Orleans, he was a legend; at Tulane he was the center of all the action that really mattered. It was a sad day for all his friends when he moved away. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this sad time.

Dear Beau and Charlene Wells:

I was so very sorry to read of Vance's death from the Times-Picayune.

As Beau knows, Vance was a good friend of my brother, Jerry. I have only fond memories of Vance and had recently gotten his address from Billy Messersmith. However, it got misplaced in Katrina.

Grace and I send our sincere condolences to you.
