Ralph Blalock Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 5, 2025.
Ralph Earl Blalock.

Ralph Earl Blalock, 83, passed away at home on January 27, 2025, in Kansas City, Missouri. Born on November 7, 1941, Ralph dedicated his life to hard work, faith, and family. A skilled mechanic by trade, he spent 43 years at Midway Ford Truck Center as a transmission specialist. Known among truckers as the "Little Preacher Boy," he built a reputation for both his expertise and his unwavering kindness. He retired in 2006 after a long and fulfilling career. Ralph was a man who found joy in working with his hands whether fixing things or tackling any task that needed to be done. His devotion extended beyond his profession into his church community, where he served as song director, treasurer, trustee, Sunday school teacher, and even took care of the church grounds. His faith was central to his life, and he lived it through service and dedication. He is survived by his two sisters, Loretta Ruth Duncan and Rhonda West, both of Arkansas, his beloved wife of 57 and a half years, Helen Marie Blalock; six of their seven children: Debra Bailes of Oklahoma; Rodney (Pam) Blalock of St. Louis, Missouri; Randy (Dawn) Blalock of Eldon, MO; Ron (Marsha) Blalock of Milford, MO.; Robin Blalock of Blue Springs, MO; and Tanya (Ronnie) Darnell of North Kansas City, MO. He was also a cherished grandfather and great-grandfather to many. Ralph was preceded in death by his daughter Kathy Zmuda, and by his parents; James William and Loretta Marie Blalock. Ralph was a good Christian man who never met a stranger. Loved by all who knew him, he will be deeply missed. Those who mourn him take comfort in knowing that he is now at home with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, free of pain and reunited with loved ones who went before him. A Celebration of Life will be held on March 22, 2025, at Missionary Baptist Church, located at 215 N Sterling in Sugar Creek, Missouri (64150). The service will begin at 6:00 p.m. and conclude at 8:00 p.m. May Ralph's memory continue to inspire those who knew him, and may his legacy of faith and kindness live on in the hearts of many. Rest in Peace until we meet again.

Papa, I'm not good at these kinds of things or expressing my feelings, but I will do my best for you. You came in and helped raise me when my Dad didn't and that meant a lot to me. I know I wasn't always the best when it came to talking about my feelings with you either, but I know you know I loved you with all of my heart. Our Monday nights out and the talks we would have about everything, will always be great memories that I have with you. I'll never forget everything you did for me, stepping in in place of my Dad. But Ill always be sorry that I didn't show it more when I became a teenager. The house seems empty without you here, and I miss you very much, Grandpa and m love you even more.

I don't have words.... I just miss you, Grandpa. Life is not the same without you here, but I know you're having a great time up there with Jesus, family and friends. It doesn't make it any easier for us left here without you, but there's some comfort knowing you're with the Lord on streets made of gold! Just... we miss & love you so much
