Ralph E. Throm, 73, passed away quietly on December 30, 2014 at home. Born in Elizabeth, he grew up in Woodbridge and Ocean Grove before settling in Piscataway in 1989. Mr. Throm received his Master's Degree in Political Science from Rutgers University. After graduation, he and his first wife spent time in the Peace Corps in Malaysian Borneo. They then traveled through Europe. Ralph was a Master Technician Auto Mechanic who could fix anything and loved machines of any sort. He loved antique cars and British Classic cars, especially Model Ts and Morgans. Mr. Throm previously owed Draeger Foreign Cars in New Brunswick and worked for various Nissan dealerships. Ralph was predeceased by his parents, Emil and Dora Throm and by his adored dog Toto. Surviving are his loving wife of 27 years, Mrs. Celeste Kolodin Throm; his son and daughter-in-law, Colin and Anna Throm of Colonia and by his former wife and her husband, Johanna Roda and Jack Pearlmutter of Skillman. Funeral services will be held Saturday 9:30 am at the Piscataway Funeral Home, 18 Stelton Rd., Piscataway, NJ 08854 followed by interment in the Hillside Cemetery in Metuchen. Visitation hours are Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to SPLC, South Poverty Law Center, P.O. Box, 548, Montgomery, AL 36177, in memory of Ralph E. Throm.
