Its been 3 years. Things never get easier. I miss you dad. I'm going to high school next year. I'm playing volleyball like you had wanted me to when i was younger. We lost the championships this year though, but we came in second. Just like in basketball. Guess i'm still the first loser huh? I went to Disney. Ill be babysitting this summer. I'm going to save up for my car. It'll be a red truck like the one you wanted me to have. I'm doing ROTC next year too. I'm going to tryout for high school volleyball so i can get my scholarship. I have a cat. I know you don't like them but i feel like you would like mine. His name is Lovely. Hes a sweetheart and clingy. I went to my first actual school dance. I can do my makeup now. Still cant do my hair though. All As and Bs. I wish you were here to see my accomplishments. It would be easier. I miss you a lot. I try to act like i'm fine but its so awkward to be around my friends while they hangout with their dads. Its not your fault. I just wish things were different.

To the family: My mom lost her best friend, soul mate and I lost the best dad in the world in April. I found this little poem and I wondered why God brought it to my attention. Those of us who've been through great loss, know that from then on, our days will be different. There's an ache...that becomes duller with time but never really leaves, things hit us out of the blue. In time when the pain of our sorrow begins to fade, we realize, like never before, that life has a fragile beauty, and we're forever changed.
We will be praying for the Lord to comfort you, give you strength for today and the days ahead when they are long, and for peace.
For Creed and Maddison, may God bless you, give you strength and courage. I have missed my dad so much, the talks, the sharing memories and making new ones. But one thing I, you, will never lose is the memories that we hold in our hearts and mind. Praying for you.
