Randall "Randy" L. Hilliard 1967—2018
Randall "Randy" L. Hilliard, 50, of Byron, passed away Saturday, July 28, 2018. He was born December 21, 1967, in Rockford, Illinois. He was a graduate of Byron High School, Class of 1986. Randy is the son of Harold and Joyce Hilliard. Randy married the love of his life, Cori Lamb on October 17, 1992. His career started as paramedic with the Byron Fire Department and with Metro Medical Service. On February 6, 1991 Randy joined the Ogle County Sheriff's Office as a correctional officer. He was promoted to Corporal, Sergeant and later Lieutenant, holding many different positions within the office. He was a graduate of the F.B.I. National Academy #204 in Quantico, Virginia. Randy was a devoted Green Bay Packers and Pittsburg Pirates fan. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt Sr. and listening to Aaron Lewis' music. Randy was a proud member of the Byron Lions Club. He was a selfless, caring man who cherished time with his family, especially his beloved daughters Kayla and Taylor, who he was very proud of. Randy will be forever remembered as a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. Survived by his wife, Cori; daughters, Kayla and Taylor; parents, Harold and Joyce Hilliard; brothers, Dean Hilliard and Jason (Aarica McCammond) Hilliard; sister, Lisa (Roger) Kirkland; father and mother-in-law, Clint and Chris Lamb; sister-in-law, Lindsay Lamb, numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews; best friend James "Jim" Getzelman and his family, along with other close friends. Predeceased by his grandparents and cousins.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 3, 2018 at City First Church, 5950 Spring Creek Rd, Rockford, IL 61114. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday August 2, 2018 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford, IL 61108 and again starting at 10:00 a.m. until time of service Friday, August 3, 2018 at City First Church. Private family burial.
