Randolph Grant Obituary

Randolph Grant, 78, of Fort Washington, MD, transitioned peacefully on August 29, 2025. Born in Conway, NC, and raised in Potecasi, he was the youngest of Lula and Gus Grant's seven children.

A proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Sergeant Grant served from 1966 to 1970 as an aircraft mechanic, maintaining EC-47 aircraft with the 42nd Tactical Electronic Warfare Squadron during the Vietnam War. His dedicated service earned him multiple honors before his honorable discharge.

Afterward, he moved to Washington, D.C., later settling in Maryland, and lived in the area for more than 50 years. He built a 30+ year career with WMATA/Metro, based out of the Southeast Garage, as a bus driver and later a train operator.

A lifelong learner, he studied at Prince George's Community College and excelled in mechanics, carpentry, farming, real estate, and Taekwondo, earning a black belt. Proud of his roots, he was part of the Century Farm recognized in NC for over 100 years of continuous ownership, and he continued that legacy by acquiring land in NC and properties across the D.C. region.

He will be remembered for his faith in Christ, steadfast work ethic, and dedication to family and community.

He is survived by his wife Gloria, children Jeffrey (Andrea), Nicole, Miranda, La-Nay (David), and Samantha (Darnell), grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many relatives and friends.
