James Randall "Randy" Settle, of Inman, 61 passed away on August 27, 2021, surrounded by his wife and sons, who were his pride and joy. As Randy entered the gates of Heaven his Jesus and his son, Kyle, greeted him. Randy loved his wife, Julie of 38 years. Always known as Randy and Julie, they were high school sweethearts and had been together for 45 years. Randy's strong Christian faith and unbelievable work ethic helped to raise three incredible hard working Christian sons. His legacy will live on forever through the boys and their leadership, values and work ethic in their own individual families. Randy was a longtime member of Inman First Baptist Church where he faithfully served in many roles. Most recently Randy was a member of NewSpring Church. Randy was a jack of all trades and a master of them all. Throughout his working career, Randy taught Biology at Landrum High School. He impacted students in a lifelong manner. Years later former students would still reach out to Randy just to talk and catch up on life. Randy also spent many years teaching horticulture at Swofford Career Center. His students learned valuable skills and the importance of a good work ethic. Many of his students moved on to successful careers in the horticulture/landscaping field. Randy and his brother, Rodney, owned and operated Settle Brothers Garden Center for many years. Randy's most passionate endeavor was Yaupon Development, Inc. What starting out as building wooden floating docks with his three sons to building houses, Randy took pride in working with his boys and teaching them the skills they needed to work with their hands and create a quality product. Many of the docks you see on the local lakes wear the Settle Docks sign and you can know that it is a well-built quality product. Randy loved his three boys and their wives. His six grandchildren stole his heart and had "Poppy" wrapped around their fingers. He would spend hours outside with his grandchildren doing whatever they wanted from playing basketball to hunting frogs, to fishing, or playing in the creek. Randy is survived by his wife of 38 years, Julie Keadle Settle, his sons Ryan (Ashley) and Clay (Tory), daughter-in-love Jen Settle, his grandchildren Kinsley, Wyatt, Mary Hartwell, Avery Grace, Reed, and Sadie Mae, his brother Rodney (Deborah), beloved aunts/uncle Frankie Shehan, Becky & Edward Campbell, honorary son Jonathan Fowler (Jenna, Kade, Kennedy Reese), mother-in-law Pat Keadle, brother/ sister-in-laws Johnny Keadle (Betty Jo), Jody Babb, Glenda Keadle, Jim Keadle (Kim), Joe Keadle (Lydia), many nieces/nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. He is predeceased by his pride and joy, his son Kyle, his parents Larry, Geneal, & Dot Settle, father-in-law Spencer Keadle, his grandparents Hartwell & Oleta Settle and Bub and Mamie Blackwell, brother-in-law Jay Keadle. A celebration of life will be held at Inman First Baptist Church on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at 11:00. The celebration of life will be live streamed through the Inman First Baptist Church following links https://www.facebook.com/ifbc.net/ https://m.youtube.com/channel/UC6NkzXkxKoIZnqN5iLgVgGg In honor of Randy, casual attire is encouraged. I have known Randy since the fall of 1976. We spent many hours working together over the years. He was a hard worker and good man. He seemed to always be in a cheerful mood and loved life. The last time I saw Randy was at the QT station on 176 and I-26. We stood and talked for about 20 minutes about family and old times. He made this world a better place and he will be missed by all who knew him.

Julie & Family: My family and I are heartbroken to hear of the passing of Randy. He has been a friend for many years. I first met Randy at Landrum High School, and we spent many hours together in the Science Department. Randy did science labs for me, and they were not just science labs because he made each one special. He had a self taught knowledge of many subjects, and was what I considered to be an expert in many fields. There wasn't anything Randy couldn't do! He would always find a way. I went to him often for his expert advice on many subjects. He was always willing to help me. Over a period of time, I learned a lot about his background and his hard work ethic. His hard work is reflected in his wonderful family. I will always remember that smile and the positive attitude that Randy had. I, along with many others, will miss Randy. I have too many fond memories to list here. Finally, Randy took pride in everything he did. He had that keen interest that not a lot of others have. My family and I wanted to express our sincere condolences to all of his wonderful family. May Randy rest in peace after so much work that was always well done.

I was very sad to hear the about the death of my dear friend Randy. Randy was one of the sweetest and kind person I knew. When he taught at Swofford Vocational School he would bring his students to Gilbert's Nursery that is where I worked in sales. That's where I met Randy. He taught my son a lot at Swofford. He really loves seeing the students take a interest in horticultural. My deepest sympathy to the family.
