Rayma Malfe Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 8, 2023.
It is with profound sadness and boundless affection that we announce the passing of our beloved Rayma Luella (Burgess) Malfe, who peacefully departed on June 8, 2023, at the remarkable age of 104. Rayma was born on September 19, 1918, in Dunbar, Kanawha County, West Virginia, to the devoted parents William Steven Burgess [1898-1982] and Roxie Leona (Higginbotham) Burgess [1898-1939].

At the age of 18, Rayma relocated to Columbus, OH, where fate brought her together with her future husband, James W. Malfe. Their union blossomed into a beautiful marriage, and together they raised six children. Their cherished journey took them from Columbus, OH, to Pompano Beach, Florida, in 1971, where they created countless precious memories.

Rayma leaves behind a legacy of love and is survived by five children: Sandra E Malfe, James W Malfe Jr., Thomas B. Malfe, Raemali (Malfe) King and her late husband [Roger M King 1944-2007], and John K. Malfe and his wife Melanie. She is also lovingly remembered by her three grandchildren: Christina L (Wilson) Jacobson and her husband Yaniv, Julia Malfe, and David C Wilson, as well as her three great-grandchildren: David C. Wilson, Ariella L Jacobson, and Adriana S Jacobson.

In the embrace of eternity, Rayma reunites with her beloved husband, James W. Malfe, and their son William D Malfe, who preceded her in death. She also joins her three siblings: Montford Burgess, Helen Esther (Burgess) Holcomb, and William Burgess, who will forever hold a special place in her heart.

A private memorial service for her immediate family will be conducted at a later date, at Pompano Beach Cemetary, with internment to follow. During this intimate gathering, we will bid her farewell and honor the incredible life she lived.

Rayma Luella (Burgess) Malfe touched the hearts of all who knew her, leaving an indelible imprint of compassion and kindness. She will forever remain a treasured presence in our lives, and her memory will continue to guide us with love and inspiration. May her gentle soul find eternal peace.

In lieu of flowers or donations to charities:

In loving memory of Rayma, AKA Nana, we invite you to celebrate her life by honoring the values she held dear. In lieu of flowers or donations, we kindly request that you gather with your family and friends to host one of her famous Sunday dinners. Rayma cherished family and friends above all else, and we believe there is no better way to commemorate her than by sharing love, laughter, and delicious food together. Let us come together in remembrance of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, as we continue to cherish the bond of family and the warmth of friendship that meant so much to her.

I just admitted Jeanne in memory care and I cried but at least she is still here physically. My condolences and love on your loss but to think she lived to be 104 how Blessed you were to have her that long without any major illness or mental problems till the end. I will keep you all in my prayers as you go through this loss.

Rayma was always so loving and real whenever I saw her over so many years. Graceful and real. And: She raised Raemali-the most beautiful, loving, supportive and incredibly wonderful person - who then returned all that love and attentiveness back to her mother -and together they showed all of us the beauty and enduring love between mother and daughter...
It has been a sight to behold! Thank you both!
Godspeed Rayma
Love, Stacy
