Raymond Cavness Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 20, 2025.
Raymond N. Cavness, a devoted public servant and beloved member of the Pinellas Park community, passed away on May 16, 2025, in Pinellas Park, Florida. He was 71 years old.

Born on January 10, 1954, in the Bronx, New York, Raymond dedicated his life to service and integrity. His career in law enforcement spanned three decades, beginning with the Sheriff's Department and continuing with 28 years as a corrections officer. Throughout his professional life, Raymond exemplified commitment and resilience, earning the respect of colleagues and community members alike.

Beyond his official duties, Raymond remained deeply involved in his community. He volunteered regularly at the Pinellas Park Police Department and provided security at his local church-acts that reflected his unwavering dedication to helping others. Whether on duty or off, he was known for being dependable, honest, and guided by strong Christian values.

Raymond also found joy in sports and recreation. He was an avid fan of football and enjoyed spending time on the golf course or at the bowling alley. These hobbies brought him relaxation and camaraderie with friends who cherished his good humor and steady presence.

He is survived by his loving wife Reina; his children Raymond Jr., Rebecca, Toni, and Cassandra; his bonus children A.J. and Becky; and his eldest brother Gilbert. He was preceded in death by his brothers Terry and Richard.

Raymond's legacy lives on through those who knew him-as a hardworking man of faith, a loyal friend, and a pillar of strength within both family and community. May his memory bring comfort to all who were fortunate to share in his life. A Visitation will be held on May 24, 2025, from 06:00 PM to 07:00 PM at Memorial Park Funeral Home 5750 49th Street N. An hour of visitation will then be followed by a celebration of life.
