Raymond Favaza

Raymond Favaza passed away Thursday July 9, 2015 at the age of 79. He was preceded in death by his parents, Josephine Martina Favaza and Joseph Favaza Sr; his siblings, Joseph Favaza Jr, Norman Favaza, Rosemary Favaza St. Germain; his son, Raymond Jr; and his granddaughters, Rebecca Lynn Hahn and Missy Walle. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Ruth Merwin Favaza; their children, Mary Hahn (Wayne), Joseph Favaza Sr. (Dana), Linda Steinkamp(Louis), Tina Wells (Jeff), Nicholas Favaza (Janet), and Timothy Favaza (Brandi); Julie and Sandy Feraci; their 16 grandchildren, Kelli Rucker (Garrick), Louis Steinkamp Jr, Wayne Hahn Jr, Mark Voebel Jr (Brittany), Kristin Favaza, Joseph Favaza Jr, Matt Voebel (Lauren), Tony Maggio, Megan Holmes, Luke Voebel (Caitlin), Braiden Gryzch, Amber Holmes, Justin Steinkamp, Raymond Favaza, Samuel Favaza, and Sofia Favaza, and 16 great grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He is much loved and will be greatly missed. Raymond was a native of New Orleans and longtime resident of Lake Catherine until Hurricane Katrina. He was a loving father. He taught us the meaning of the word "family," and was always there at our time of need. Through him we learned not only to live life, but to celebrate it, as he spared little expense in ensuring that our times together were full of joy. We will always remember him as our inspiration to enjoy our lives to the fullest. Being a self-proclaimed "loner" as a child, he grew to be the most loved person we have ever known and we will always cherish our time with him. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Greenwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5200 Canal Blvd, New Orleans, LA. on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, July 10, 2015 from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM and again on Saturday from 11:30 AM to mass time.
