Raymond Little Bear Obituary

Published by Billings Gazette from Feb. 9 to Feb. 11, 2008.
BUSBY - Raymond Little Bear, 69, of Busby passed away Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008, in the Billings Valley Health Care Center.
Hoe'haooestse "Flys out" was born April 8, 1939, in Busby, a son of Fred Limpy, Jr. and Clara Little Bear. He grew up in the Busby area and received his education at the Busby Tongue River Boarding School and later attended high school in Lind, Wash. from 1954 to 1955. He worked 14 years as a teacher aide for the Busby School, later served as director of the Northern Cheyenne Commodities Program and was a law enforcement officer for Rosebud County and the Lame Deer Tribal Police departments.
Ray married Elsie Russell in 1966 and the couple later divorced. He married Emma Big Left Hand and the couple resided in Busby. He was an avid sports fan, who loved to participate and watch all forms of athletic events. He was a member of the Mennonite Church,
His parents, wife Emma, son Phillip Rising Sun, Sr., sister Eva Limpy; brothers, Edmond and Vernon Tall Bull, Bill, Henry and Frank Limpy and uncle Pete Little Bear preceded Raymond in death.
Survivors include his children, LeAnne, Vernon and Regis (Diane) Little Bear; brothers, Mike Limpy, Larry and Dr. Richard (Jan) Little Bear; sisters Delores (Sam) Hart, Lucille LaFrance, Betty Williams, Corinne Washee, Donna Gonzales, Ann Black and Frankie Lime; his special nephews Adrian and Franklyn Spang; his beloved grandchildren, Shacheen, Caelan, Roderick, Sabette, Starleen, Emmette Jr., Keshia, Lawrence, Jaleesa, Kevin, Josie, Vernon Jr., Latrell, Ean, Angela, Phillip Jr., Eugene, Tonya and Moses; 16 great- grandchildren; his stepsons, Monte and Allen (Elizabeth) Little Coyote and his special friends, Frank, Roger Knows His Gun, Tom Rock Roads, Jr., Clifford Long Sioux, Tex Curley, Ted and James Rowland and Max Small. If we have forgotten you in our grief, please accept our apology.
Ray enjoyed and loved being with his grandchildren, but because that privilege was taken away rudely and untruthfully from him; it affected him dearly and he was heartbroken by the action.
We would like to extend a special thank-you to the staff and doctors of the Crow Dialysis Unit, Billings Dialysis Center, St. Vincent Healthcare and the Northern Cheyenne Transportation and Escorts for the attention given to our loved one.
Traditional wake services will be held 7 p.m. Monday, in the Busby White River Mennonite Church. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, in the Church. Interment will follow in the Little Bear Family Cemetery. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Leanne, Regis and Vernon,
Sorry to hear of the loss of your father. I was named after him, my english name and my Cheyenne name. It's been a while since I last visited him. He helped me thru some of my hardest times when I was growing up. I wish I could be there for all of you. Now, Maheo has ended his suffering and he's with the rest of our relatives. Be strong, you dad was a good man, and I'll miss him.
