Raymond Lyle Peterson, age 87, of Mankato and formerly of Britt, IA, died Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at Pathstone Living in Mankato.
Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 22, 2017, at Northview – North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, with Pastor Tim Hinrichs officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Memorials are preferred to Willow Brook Senior Co-op, MRCI, or Pathstone Living.
Raymond was born July 25, 1929, in Britt, IA. He was the son of Reuben and Evelyn (Gifford) Peterson. Raymond was a 1947 graduate of Britt High School. He attended junior college in Britt and graduated from the University of Northern Iowa – Cedar Falls. Raymond served briefly in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and was transferred to the Army Reserves.
Raymond was united in marriage to Charlotte Barrett on October 31, 1953, in Waterloo, IA. He was employed with Cargill for 39 years. Following his retirement in 1991, he and Charlotte moved to the Adult Golf Playground in Hot Springs Village, AR. They moved to Mankato in 2007 to be closer to family and friends. Raymond was a member of Methodist churches in the various towns he and Charlotte lived in. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, participating in sports, playing cards, and especially spending time with his grandchildren and family.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Charlotte Peterson of Mankato; two children, Cay (Keith) Garry of Mankato and David (Nancy) Peterson of Houston, TX; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, RuBee (Em) Schroeder of Britt, IA; also many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Craig Alan Peterson; three brothers and two sisters.
