Rebecca L. Brackett, 66, of Algonac, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 20, 2015.  She was born in Greenville, Ohio to the late Dudley & Martha Steinhilber.  Becky moved to Port Huron in 1966, after graduating from Milford High School, to attend Port Huron Junior College.  Friendship brought her to Algonac, where she would spend the rest of her life, as if she had always been there. She graduated from Saginaw Valley State College with a degree in Psychology. She joined the Ira Township Police Department, as the first female police officer in St. Clair County, often working with women and children. She married Edward Brackett on September 17, 1977. Becky left the police force in 1979 when she became a mother. But, she continued to be involved in the community. Whether volunteering at the schools, sitting on the housing commission, the DDA, or aiding any number of worthy causes, Becky was always willing to work hard for those that needed her. 

Becky's family remembers her as a selfless person. A lady who liked to help but not take the spotlight, anonymously helping others in meaningful ways, sharing her wit and wisdom. A self proclaimed "purveyor of mirth and merriment". She enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting, and needle work. Always taking pride in whatever she made, be it an intricately detailed porcelain doll, theatre worthy Halloween costume, or simply a family meal. Everything she did was done with thoughtful attention. She appreciated and respected the beauty found in the world around her. But, was quick to dismiss and colorfully verbalize her disdain for that which she found unjust. 

She is survived by her beloved husband, Ed; loving daughter, Amber (Nick) DuPrey and their daughter, who was the light of her Grammy's life, Lizzie; her dear sister, Janie Steinhilber; brother Bill (Carol) Steinhilber; and sister Gretchen (Tom) Sypniewski; and many nieces and nephews.

She touched more lives than she ever realized and will be greatly missed by those that knew her.
