Rebecca Green

Rebecca Lynn Green, known to many as Becky, passed away on January 31, 2025, in Pensacola, Florida, at the age of 77. She was born on January 8, 1948, in Heavener, Oklahoma, at her grandmother's home to Robert and Wanda Meeh. In the 1950s, her family relocated to San Diego, California, where she later graduated from Morse High School in 1966. Becky dedicated 35 years of service to the City of San Diego before retiring.

Music was a central part of Becky's life. In the 1980s, she was a member of the Footloose Cloggers, performing at various music festivals, including the Grand Ole Opry. Through clogging, she developed a love for Bluegrass music and became a talented multi-instrumentalist, teaching herself to play the guitar, banjo, electric bass, dobro, and piano. Whether on stage or gathered with friends for an informal jam session, she found joy in sharing music. She performed with several Bluegrass bands in San Diego and was an active member of the San Diego Bluegrass Society, where she also served as Treasurer.

Becky was predeceased by her brother Bob Meeh. She is survived by her daughter Christy Kidney (Chris), her sister Pammie Hudson (Steve), her brother Dennis Meeh, as well as nieces and nephews.

She will be laid to rest at Glen Abbey Cemetery in Bonita, California, alongside her parents and family. A celebration of life will be determined at a later date.
