Rebecca Ann Staples

STAPLES, Rebecca Ann March 31, 1960 - January 28, 2022 In the early hours of January 28th, 2022, we lost our much loved Rebecca, mother of Tessa and Nicholas, daughter of Dave and Carol-Ann Staples, sister to Brenda (Beck) and Rachel Staples and a dear friend to all she met. She was born in Mission, B.C. She was the first of three daughters who blessed the homes of Dave and Carol-Ann Staples. Rebecca was a memorable personality from birth. She shared her charming charisma and enthusiastic spirit with everyone she met. She was able to befriend people from all walks of life. Her many special talents and qualities made her stand out in a crowd and draw people to her. As a young teenager, Rebecca was a talented pianist, avid track and field star and creative artist. At the age of 13, Rebecca was awarded top honours in the Victoria Music Festival, winning the number one place over an up and coming international concert pianist. She won many local and international track meets, specializing in the 100 and 200 meter sprints. Rebecca earned a full-ride scholarship to the University of Hawaii in 1978. Following her studies, she began to pursue her interest in travelling and back-packed throughout several third-world countries. On her return home she stopped off in Singapore and began to explore a career in modelling and film. Once back in Canada, she registered for acting school in San Francisco. There she met and married, actor and director, John Terlesky. They travelled together to South Africa where they shot a movie and had more wonderful adventures. After her marriage ended, Rebecca continued to enjoy many acting parts in a number of T.V. series, including St. Elsewhere, Power Rangers, and Houston Knights. She met and married Jack De Nicola in 1993. In 1997 their lives were blessed with the birth of Tessa Maria. In 1997, Rebecca, Jack and Tessa welcomed into their family, baby brother, Nicholas. Rebecca was a loving and caring mother, who mothered with love, creativity and kindness. Rebecca remained close with family and her many friends here in Victoria and talked/ texted daily with her parents and siblings. She somehow managed to be part of our everyday life despite living 1500 miles away. The Pandemic stifled our ability to be together in person but plans were made for March 2022 to do just that. Brenda, Rachel, Carol-Ann were travelling to LA to celebrate her 62nd birthday having a super, post Covid reunion. We are all grateful that our lives were richly blessed having Rebecca as our daughter, sister, and aunt, and her presence remains with us. SHE WILL BE FOREVER LOVED and MISSED.
