Bekah, or sometimes just "B," was born in Santa Cruz, California, on Saturday, August 29, 1981. She did most of her growing up in Live Oak and attended Soquel High School from 1995-1999. At 35 years of age she passed away, shortly following a tragic automobile accident in late December 2016. A love of traveling and adventure led her on many exciting journeys across the globe and introduced her to new experiences and friends. Making friends came easy to Bekah, her chatty nature and charismatic personality lit up the room around her. Most recently bartending at Hula's Island Grill, Bekah was a customer and staff favorite alike. She could easily be found in any crowd, her signature long hair (almost 3 feet!) usually wound up in an enormous bun on top of her head. Bekah was active in city league sports, playing on and managing the Gang Green ladies basketball team, the Furies co-ed softball team, and the women's softball B-league Green Team, who, after losing every game back in 2006, went on to boast a seasons-long winning streak of 42 wins and no losses. B is so dearly missed by her family, sports family, and friends. She is preceded in death by her beloved maternal grandparents, Harry and Charlie Scarborough; survived by parents Judy Scarborough of Santa Cruz, California, and Rob & Laurel Roesner of Dayton, Nevada; brothers Benjamin Scarborough (Jonelle Badger) and Nathaniel Scarborough (Mallory Pascal), both of Santa Cruz, California, Matthew Roesner (Melanie) of Gardnerville Nevada, Ryan Roesner (Rachael) of Dayton, Nevada, Johnny Roesner (Marisol Azpeitia) of Modesto, California; nephews Sonny Scarborough and Jet Roesner; and nieces Camille, Onyx, and Ces Roesner. She so loved spending time with family, especially her brothers. A Celebration of Bekah's Life will be held at 2pm on Sunday, January 22, 2017, at the Harvey West Park Scouthouse in Santa Cruz. Donations can be made to the family in lieu of flowers, and will in turn be gifted to benefit the homeless in Santa Cruz.

I met you when you were 2 years old. You were such a sweet child with such a loving family. The pastor at my wife's funeral spoke of the connection between gone to be with the Lord and He is with you always, making it clear that you are always closeby.

Bekah, you were my step-daughter's best friend, maid of honor, and partner in travels. The stories of your trips to Europe together are some I will always remember with a smile. I didn't know you well, but you were always kind, thoughtful and full of life. For the short time that you were on this earth, you truly lived. You are missed.

When my son, Jeffrey Katsulis called me the day of the tragic accident, I was shaken to the core. Bekah was friends with both of my kids and they have both suffered a loss.
