Reed M. Morgan

Reed M. Morgan, 37, of North Liberty, died Sunday, January 4, 2015 following his battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Friday, January 9, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids (310 5th Street, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52401) where a visitation will take place Thursday from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the "Reed Morgan Memorial Trust," c/o Ryan Braun, 2411 W. Winnemac Avenue, Chicago, IL 60625. Reed Michael Morgan was born June 23, 1977, in Mattoon, Illinois; the son of John D. and Gayle (Grace) Morgan. He graduated from Washington High School in Cedar Rapids and went onto attend the University of Iowa graduating in 2000 with his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. He worked 14 years with General Mills as a system engineer spending most of his career in Cedar Rapids. Reed was a proud Eagle Scout and member of Sigma Phi Epsilon at the University of Iowa. Reed and his family are also members of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in North Liberty. Reed was a family man, and cherished his time with his family. He especially enjoyed time spent with the boys working on Lego creations or time reading a good mystery or sci-fi book; the thicker the book, the more he enjoyed it! Reed's family includes his wife, Dawn and their sons, Tyler and Carter; parents, John and Gayle Morgan of Cedar Rapids; his twin brother, Brent and his wife, Becca of Iowa City and their children, Thomas and John; parents-in-law, Ken and Dorothy Martell of Naples, Florida and Brother-in-law, Troy Martell and his wife Erin of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
