Boston - Father Lawrence J. Rondeau, 93, retired devoted priest for the Archdiocese of Boston, died, Sunday, July 20, 2025 at the Regina Cleri Residence in Boston following a brief illness. Born in Brockton he was the son of the late Louis A. and Eva M. (LaBarre) Rondeau.

Father Larry began his training for the priesthood, at a young age, at St. Hyacinthe Minor Seminary in Quebec Canada and completed his studies at St. John Seminary in Boston. He was ordained on February 3, 1958 and first served at Sacred Heart Parish in Middleboro. From 1962 to 1970 he served at St. Jean the Baptist in Lynn, 1970 to 1983 at St. Louis de France in Lowell and from 1983 to 2004 he served as Pastor of St. Joseph Parish in Salem. With the onset of the collaboration of parishes, he was Senior Curate in residence for St. James and Immaculate Conception Churches; which is now the Mary, Queen of the Apostles Parish in Salem.

Father Rondeau was a devoted priest who cared deeply for his parishioners and most especially those seniors and the physically challenged who were usually housebound. As a pastor, he was a true shepherd who supported and empowered his parishioners in various ministries and capacities. Father Larry was a staunch advocate for St. Joseph School and Academy. An energetic man, he enjoyed people, sports, cooking, a good laugh and food. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
