Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 26 to Mar. 28, 2023.
Rex Allen Barrett
MILLSBORO, DE - Rex Allen Barrett passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 18, 2023.
He was born September 25, 1959, to the late Clifford and Agnes (Billops) Barrett of Augustine Beach, Delaware where he grew up.
Rex attended William Penn High School. He was a master carpenter in New Castle County for many years but found home in Millsboro in the 1990s where he worked in the residential construction management industry until 2021. Rex was an avid hunter, boater, and fisherman. His favorite place always seemed to be on a boat with his family and friends, pulling in the big one. He loved taking his grandchildren fishing and crabbing on the bay, as often as possible.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Deborah Barrett; nephew, Harry Spohn; and niece, Kim Spohn.
Rex is survived by his son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren, Neil, Adele, Addison and Mason Chandler of Avondale, PA; his sisters, Emogene Hartman of Augustine Beach, DE and Patsy Gentry of Glade Spring, Virginia; and his brothers, Zarro (and Betty) Barrett of Delaware City and Mike Barrett of Augustine Beach, DE. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will be missed by family, friends, and neighbors. A memorial service will be held at 11am on Sunday, April 2nd at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown, DE 19709. Friends may visit from 10-11am.
