Rhonda Lynn Flippo, beloved daughter of Harold and Ann Flippo, died June 19, 2002, in Florence, Ala.Rhonda was a lifelong resident of Florence. She attended Weeden Elementary and Rogers High School. Rhonda went on to earn her BS and MBA degrees at the University of North Alabama. She enjoyed hiking, being outdoors and gardening. Rhonda enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews, whom she loved very much.The family will receive friends Thursday, June 20, at Elkins Funeral Home from 6 until 9 p.m. There will be a private graveside service Friday. Elkins Funeral Home is assisting the family.Rhonda is survived by her parents, Harold D. and Doris Ann Flippo, Florence, Ala.; sisters and brother, Sandy Newman, Florence, Ala., Tracye Starr and husband, Rusty, Palatka, Fla., Amy Montgomery and husband, Bryan, Florence, Ala., and Doug Flippo and wife, Tammy, Florence, Ala.; nieces, Laura Newman, Liza Montgomery, Lane Montgomery, Amanda Starr and Jessica Flippo; nephews, Brandon Starr, Daniel Starr and Jacob Flippo; aunts, uncles and cousins.Pallbearers will be Richard Keeton, Rod Stevenson, Rodney Summerford, Kenny Stevenson, Terry Allen, Randy Keeton and Denton Summerford.Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of a contribution to the Parent Advocates Down Syndrome, 1919 Oxmoor Road, No. 416, Birmingham, AL 35209, Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind, P.O. Box 698, Talladega, AL 35761 or the Cerebral Palsy Center, 4212 Jackson Highway, Sheffield, AL 35660.The family would like to thank family and friends for their prayers and support.
