Richard Amans, 72, formerly of Geneseo, Ill., died July 21, 2005, in Sebring, Fla. Services are 1 p.m. Friday, September 16, 2005, in National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, Rock Island. The Moline American Legion will conduct military honors.
Richard was born March 1, 1933, in Rice Lake, Wis. He married Geneva Ruth Kerr in 1952. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and later as a Second Lt. in the Iowa National Guard where he received recognition for his academic achievement and awards for leadership. After 31 years, he retired from Deere & Co. as Division Manager of Distribution Systems. He enjoyed golf, bowling, playing cards, and watching baseball.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Geneva; his children, Genny Dierbeck, East Moline, Rick Amans, Marshalltown, Iowa, Rob Amans, Porter, Ind., Julie Sangston, Augusta, Ga., and Deron Amans, Issaquah, Wash.; 15 grandchildren; brother, Bill Amans, Fairfax Station, Va.; and sisters, Loraine Doyle, Punta Gorda, Fla., Shannon Baumberger, Evansville, Wis., and Barb Alcorn, Lakewood, Colo.
