Richard "Rick" P. Barile, 65, of Vernon, beloved husband of 21 years to Janice (Hood) Barile, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 5, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. Born in Hartford, the son of the late Carmen and Florence (Teraila) Barile, he grew up and lived in Coventry and South Windsor before moving to Vernon twenty-one years ago. He was a graduate of Coventry High School, Class of 1971. Richard proudly served his country in the U. S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a graduate of Manchester Community College. Prior to his retirement in 2003, Richard was police officer in South Windsor for 25 years. After his retirement, he was a judicial marshal in Tolland county for thirteen years before retiring in 2018. Rick was also a South Windsor Century 21 real estate agent, and he drive part time for Post Road Stages in South Windsor. He was a communicant of St. Bernard Church in Rockville. He loved girl's fast pitch softball and was an umpire. Rick enjoyed watching and playing Jai Lai, bowling, poker and going to the casino. He was a loving and devoted husband and father, and his daughter was the light of his life. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Ashley Barile of Vernon; two step-sons, Randy Hood and his wife Andrea of Southbury, and PJ Katz and his wife Laura of Malden, MA; two step-daughters, Amy Gil and her husband Michael of South Windsor, and Michelle Katz of South Windsor; four step-grandchildren, Mya, Zara, Aiden, and Ronin; two brothers, Steve Barile of South Windsor, and Larry Barile of MA, and a sister, Karen Barile of OH and numerous dear friends. His family will receive friends for calling hours on Monday, November 12, 2018 from 5 – 8 p.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 13, 2918 at 11 a.m. directly at St. Bernard Church, 25 St. Bernard Terrace, Rockville. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery, Rockville with military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Rick Barile Memorial Fund, c/o United Bank, 6 Pitkin Road, Vernon, CT 06066.
