Richard Duga Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Oct. 22 to Oct. 23, 2022.
Richard V. Duga 1945 - 2022 Feeding Hills Richard V Duga of Agawam passed away peacefully on October 17, 2022 surrounded by the comfort of his family. Rich was born on August 3, 1945 in Springfield, MA, son to the late Vernon and Jeannine (Mallette) Duga. He was raised and educated in Agawam and graduated from Agawam High School, Class of 1964. Following high school, he went on to briefly serve his country in the United States Navy. Upon his completion of service, he began a successful career using his skills as a carpenter and a roofer. Rich eventually joined the team at Riverside Park, now known as Six Flags New England, where he spent fifteen years in various roles before hanging up his hammer to enjoy retirement. In his leisure time, he enjoyed candlepin bowling, playing softball, and a good game of cards. In his younger years he spent time visiting relatives in Canada while on camping and fishing trips. Later in life Rich traded those pastimes for cruises and spending time at the beach. An avid Red Sox, Patriots and NASCAR fan, he could often be found at the television, cheering his favorite team and ready to talk statistics with any willing participant. He always looked forward to family get togethers, especially mealtime. Surviving Richard are his two beloved daughters Carrie Woodford and her husband Jeff of Westfield, MA and Kimberly Grivner and her husband Matthew of Woodbury, CT. He also leaves his grandchildren Carli Duga, Kasey Gobeille, Nicholas Gobeille, and Andrew Grivner as well as two great grandchildren, Silas and Kai. A celebration of Richard's life will be held on Wednesday October 26, 2022 at the Agawam Funeral Home, 184 Main Street, with calling hours from 10 AM- 11 AM and concluding with a service at 11 AM. Committal will immediately follow at Springfield Street Cemetery in Feeding Hills. Remembrances in Richard's name may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
