Richard W. Dunn, the greatest husband and daddy and a most beloved son and brother, was born July 11, 1943, and passed away at 2:20 p.m. Monday, Sept. 1, 2008, at his home in Amite. He was 65 and a native of Independence. Richard was the son of Mrs. Eula Jenkins and the late Woodrow Dunn. Richard was the most generous businessman our community ever knew. Richard is survived by his wife of 43 years, Kathryn Daniel Dunn, Amite; four daughters, Lori Ballard, Dana Dunn, Kelly Sofge and husband Ben, and Kristen Davis, all of Amite; mother, Mrs. Eula Jerkins, Amite; four sisters, Jeanette Armato, Independence, Evelyn Pittman, Kentwood, Diane Scott, Shreveport, and Rita Blades, Amite; two brothers, Leroy Wilson, Shreveport, and Charles Dunn, Amite; and six grandchildren, Jade Patton, Raina Sofge, Emma Sofge, Savannah Ballard, Richard Chasen Ballard and Joshua Davis. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and extended family. Preceded in death by his father, Woodrow Dunn; and two brothers, Calvin and M.L. Wilson. Visitation at McKneely & Vaughn Funeral Home, I-55 N at La. 16 W, Amite, on Saturday, Sept. 6, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, conducted by the Rev. To the Dunn Family,
I had the priviledge of knowing Richard for about 30 years. He was an extremely generous and kind hearted man. He used to come by Amite Glass when Chuck had it and he put many of smiles on my face and joy in my heart. I would run into him from time to time and he always took the time to stop and chat to see how I was doing. I just found out yesterday that he had passed away and was shocked. I didn't even know he had been ill. May God be with all of you and watch over you and give you all strength. Kathy I know the hurt of lossing a loving husband. He always talked about his family and how he adored each and everyone of you. He was truely a proud man. If there is anything I can do or say please don't hesitate to contact me.
Surely Heaven received another Angel.
He will be dearly missed.
