RICHARD WILLIAM "RICK"
Age 61, of Castle Shannon, formerly of Allentown, passed away on Friday, July 14, 2017. Beloved son of Gladys (Flaherty) and the late Robert Jefferson Flynn, Jr.; loving brother of David (Janet) Flynn, of Morgantown, WV and Lori (Jerry) Lamb, of Mt. Pleasant, SC; devoted uncle of Chris, Dan, Greg, and Caroline Flynn, Mitch and Matt Lamb. Rick was born in Norfolk, VA and moved to Pittsburgh at age 9. He was a graduare of Keystone Oaks High School and attended Edinboro University. He served in the US Navy aboard the USS England, a guided missile cruiser. He worked with electronics, in security, and as a pizza delivery man. He was an avid Hamradio Operator worldwide. He had conversations with Jacques Cousteau aboard the Calypso. He was a 34 year member of AA. Family and friends welcome Monday and Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the WM. SLATER & SONS, INC., 301 Virginia Ave., Mt. Washington, 15211, (412-381-3345), where Funeral Service will be held Wednesday 11 a.m. Entombment to follow in Mount Lebanon Cemetery.

I was so sorry to hear of Rick's passing and my condolences go out to the family. I have very fond memories of Rick and I getting our Ham Radio licenses through the Jay Neff Middle School class run by Mr Thomas and the many, many contacts we made together over the air (all the way from Dormant to Castle Shannon!) from 1970 to 1973. Also our many trips back and forth (often courtesy of Rick's mom driving us!) to work on each other's antennas. Attached is a copy of Rick's first radio card (QSL) from our first contact in 1970 .... we had a lot of fun back then. Rest in peace now Rick - and God's peace to the family. Mark
