Richard Duke Gagliardi

Richard Duke Gagliardi was born May 21, 1962 in Bakersfield Ca.

His passing was March 29, 2025 in Glendale AZ.

To those who knew him best, Duke was a devoted family man. He shared a deep and abiding love with his wife, Kathy, whom he cherished with all his heart. He was a proud father to his son Andy, daughter Sarah and bonus daughter Amber. His love extended fully to his grandsons, RJ, Ryan, Blake and Travis- who brought him immeasurable joy. These four boys would light up his world like nothing else; their laughter and presence never failed to bring a smile to Papa's face. They will always carry with them the warmth of their Papa's love.

Duke was preceded in death by his father Richard P Gagliardi, father-in-law Orvel L. Roland and bonus son Eric A Schrantz.

He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1985-1989, following his military service he embarked on a successful career in the IT field which spanned over three decades. His work ethic and commitment left a lasting impression on colleagues and clients alike.

Duke will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. May his memory bring comfort and strength to those whose lives he touched.

Daddy

There are not enough words to express how much my heart breaks and is in deep sorrow after losing you. You and mom were my guiding light, always encouraging me to find my path and work for what I wanted. I loved being by your side and sharing in laughs and the many memories that we were able to create. I am forever grateful for the love, compassion, and memories that we have shared over the years. Thank you for being such a great role model for me to look up to and always showing the expectation that I should have looked for in my husband. Thank you for working hard to ensure that we always had everything we needed, including our strong family bond that we continue to this day. Daddy, as we try to continue on in making you proud, I hope that you know how amazing of a dad you are and that the boys have the best PaPa. Eric and I were fortunate to have a loving, caring, and dedicated dad to help us, as we navigated our life and family. We are forever grateful for your love and guidance. Daddy, as my heart breaks that you are not here continuing to show your love and support, I know you are guiding us from above as our guardian angel. I love you and miss you dearly, Daddy!
Love your little girl, Sarah

Oh Duke - when you moved over here to Phoenix and told Victor and I that it wasn´t going to be temporary but that Kathy and the kids would be coming permanently, our hearts soared with excitement. We have had some really fun times. All of our fun trips: San Diego, Santa Barbara, Solvang (that was some crazy fun) Sedona, Pismo Beach, Las Vegas, Morro Bay to name a few. Date nights were, let´s just say, for Kathy, Victor and I to remember and laugh about. Camping back in the day before back and knees bothered us and arthritis was always trying to join in on the party was a fun time. The swimming parties at the kids houses and all that food. Your Stromboli is the best! Our kids will never forget it. And who could ever forget the best Santa in the world!

You and Victor drove Cyndi all the way to Tennessee because I couldn´t do it. I still want to give you another hug for that one.

You are such a great dad and took care of Kathy so well. Thank you for opening up your heart and home for Mother. You took care of mother and made her feel so cared for. You loved children and people and served our country and those you loved well. You are already missed so very much.

We promise to keep taking care of Kathy as best we can.

Victor and I and our family will forever miss you and love you.

What is a brother to say to his big brother that would let the world know that you loved him for all that he was! Our life started out as bit of a roller-coaster however with your loving spirit you watched over us all. As the life chapters of your brothers & sisters Will, Tammy, Elaine & myself changed over the years you where always our big brother. Although life took us to different cities and careers we still enjoyed memories of great times of laughter, romance, reminiscing of days gone past. It was a blessing to just know we had a big brother that loved his siblings. May you rest in peace until we get to share memories again. Love you Duke...

Duke,
I think we knew the first time we met that we would be together forever. Our love kept growing. When you asked me to marry you it was like no other proposal. You sat next to me and said "Set a date", and so I did. This was the start of our story. In our 41 years of marriage, we have had a great life. Thank you for our amazing children Andy and Sarah. We couldn´t be more proud of them. The adults they have become and the families that they have made. We have amazing bonus kids in Amber and Eric. As well as 4 amazing grandsons. They are definitely the bonus round.
I know that you know how much I love you. But I want to tell you again, I love you with all my heart. I promised to be with you until death. I was there when you took your final breath here on earth. When I lost you I lost a very big part of me. We will be together again. I love and miss you each and every minute of every day.
Your wife, Kathy
