PEORIA - Richard Anché Hanchett, 75, of Peoria passed away at 8:57 p.m. Sunday, August 20, 2017, at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
Richard was born on August 23, 1941, in Bradford, IL, to Ross Everett and Dorothy (Oberg) Hanchett. They preceded him in death.
He is survived by his children, Nicole Salem, Dena Fischer, Janel Fortner, Seth Hanchett, Ross Hanchett and Sydney Hanchett; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jeanett Alltop and Marian Ericson; and his companion and co-worker of 50 years, Lucy Roese.
Richard began his career in cosmetology at the age of 18, and worked until shortly before his passing. He had a successful salon in Peoria for over 40 years and was well-known as Richard Anché. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed annual deer hunt outings with friends and his son-in-law, Salem Salem, at Nizam Wadi's. Another highlight was traveling to Africa with his good friend, Bob Vinovich. He was also passionate about bird carving, which he learned from his friend, Ed Kouski. Richard was a member of Northwoods Community Church in Peoria.
The family will receive friends from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, August 25, 2017, at Northwoods Community Church in Peoria. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with fellowship to follow. Rick Rogy and Pastor Dave Bucknam will officiate. Cremation rites have been accorded by Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington.
