Roy, Ticki and the family of Richie. Please accept my deepest sympathy. I remember Richie at a young age playing on the sidelines during practice and at game time watching his father participating in sports. I also had the experience as a football official to referee Richie's grade school, HS and IUP college football games and watch him mature as a player & leader. I'm sure Richie's in a good place. God bless, RIP.

My Condolences to the the entire Ingold Family, especially Richie's Father, Mr. Roy Ingold, (who I hold with the highest Regard).

At the Funeral Home Yesterday, Family, Friends, & several classic old photos there, reminded me of the Great Old Days, at St. Catherines, & Seton LaSalle, Playing Football, Side by Side with Richie, my close friend, & his bigger than Life Personality.
Those are memories I will never forget, & were all brought back, when I heard this tragic news.
Rest in Peace Richie, you will be missed by many.

I owe a great deal to Coach Ingold and I have thanked him a few times for making a decision that would shape the rest of my life. That decision was in 2003, when I was released from the rival Peoria Pirates in the AF2.

I thought my professional football career was over, but he claimed me off waivers and added me to the Quad City Steamwheelers roster. When he called me to notify me that he had claimed me, I was shocked. What did he see in me? He said that he saw a lot of himself in me. He wasn't very fond of kickers, but he knew I was different. We had a successful year on and off the field.

Without Coaches decision to take a chance on me, I would have never met my wife. She was at home for a short time, visiting her parents, when I met her at one of the team parties. We were married a few years later and we have twin boys today.

I will forever remember Coach as a man of great ambition. He was a fighter. He was a winner. Most of all he was a great friend to many that were lucky enough to be in his presence.

He will forever be missed.

I was the cheerleader coach at Seton-LaSalle when Rich was quarterbacking. My son Chad was the center the fresh and soph years so Rich was well known in our family. I admired his ability to rev his players up to the highest of standards in the game of football. What a joy it was to see the team achieve championship levels.
God grant him sweet peace!

My sympathy to the Ingold family. Richie was an amazing personality and a great football player. Playing with Richie on those 1979 and 1980 championship teams at Seton LaSalle will always be fondly remembered. It was an honor to protect my quarterback and be his center. He made us all great. Rest In Peace Richie

Dear Roy, Tickie, & Traci,

I haven't seen Richie in 38 years but remember him as if it were yesterday. Richie always brought excitement and enthusiasm wherever he went am whatever he did. He always challenged himself and others around him to rise to the occasion and live higher than the level of mediocrity. I'm sorry for your loss but his memories will always live in the hearts of the lives he touched. May God comfort your family in this time of need.

Rich was my hero in high school. I couldn't wait to read sports page on saturday morning. We had a quiet freindship. I was the nerdy skinny kid in trig and geometry that "helped" Rich get thay 3.2 GPA his senior year. There was no handshake, no nothing. But he looked out for me and I feared nothing. I never called the favor in but I could have. He would have backed it up. He was a man amongst boys. I regret I never talked to him after high school. My condolescences to his family. God bless.

• From Cerro's Market to Fiori's Pizza
• From Seton La Salle to Brashear
• From Pauline Park to Moore Park Football League
• From Massillon to Columbus
• From Eagle's House to IUP
I received a phone call from my brother Mike about the passing of Coach Stitch. As I was driving, the first thing I could think of is how full of life Coach Stitch was and his passion to be the best! Growing up in the South Hills of Pittsburgh was the best life experience that a sports child could have. We had a sport family community that was very proud and supportive. We use our sport life experience in our life every day and try to teach our kids the same. Steve Bennett from The Citizens' Voice wrote this on Coach Stitch. Rich Ingold had a passion for football and he was not afraid to let that passion show. Whether it was playing quarterback at IUP or coaching, Ingold let his emotions flow. But he never let them get the best of him. He told it like it was, whether it was before a game, during a game or after one. If a player didn't do the job, Ingold was not afraid to let the player know. He also wasn't afraid to bring somebody in who he thought could do it better. All with designs on winning. Those personality traits made him a coach everyone wanted to play for. That, and the fact that Ingold produced a winner nearly every step of the way! I read this to my football team today at practice. I asked the team, who does this sound like? They replied, You Coach Tony.
In the winter of 1989, we would jump the wall of South Stadium every Sunday to play a game we loved with our brothers. We would talk smack to each other before we even started to play (Coach Stitch getting out of the car). Our families of sports friends were like no other. We would fight every weekend and then at the same time, we would share the same water. I think we would all agree, we didn't want to lose to Coach Stitch. And if we did lose, Coach Stitch told us about it until he lost the next time.

Best I remember he was a pistol of a young man & one heck of an athlete. It was fun to recruit him from Seton Lasalle for the University of Tennessee. My sincerest thoughts / condolences to

I'm shocked and deeply saddened to hear of Rich's passing. My sincere condolences to Roy, Tickie, Tracy, Jesse and his 2 children.

I'll always remember Rich's second to none competitive drive. That drive was no more apparent than on the football field. It was a real pleasure watching him play. At Seton LaSalle, Rich and his 5-star WR Nick Merrick were one of the finest duo's in the country. At IUP, Rich was an All-American. In the Arena Football League, Rich was a winner as a player and a coach.

Rich loved his teammates, his players, and his family. He will be missed by many.

Richie was the ultimate QB#1 -- his confidence and swagger both on and off the field had a tremendous impact on all of us who were his high school teammates -- he was a great friend, truly possessing a "bigger than life" personality. Richie will be profoundly missed and much remembered.

So sorry to hear about Rich's passing. SL won WPIAL same year we won at TJ in 1980. Played against Rich at Edinboro. Got to know him better when I was a reporter at Channel 11 News in the 90's. Then our paths crossed again in Scranton when he coached the Pioneers. Rich was one day younger than me. My sincere sympathy and condolences. Had a lot of fun with Rich. He certainly will be Sadly Missed.
