Richard Langley Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jan. 3 to Jan. 4, 2024.
Simpsonville - Richard Hanson Langley, 83, was born on May 23, 1940 in Frederick Maryland. He was the youngest son of Dorothy and Stephen Swan Langley II and will be remembered fondly by friends and family as "Dick".

He passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 1, 2024 in Simpsonville, SC. He was predeceased by his parents and older brother Edmund along with his beloved and doting wife Lois Ann Rice Langley.

He is survived by his brother Stephen S. Langley II (Susan) and niece Liz (Alexander) and four children Stephanie (Bill), Rick (Dianna), Jeff (Kim), Scott (Lauren) along seven grandchildren, Sheryl, Alex, Joshua, Zach, Jordan, Megan and David and two great grand children Demetri and Gavin.

As a child, Dick enjoyed playing catcher on his baseball team. He attended John's Hopkins University and was a member of Phi Kappa Psi.

He was employed as an actuary for Federal Home Life and later started his own insurance agency, Langley and Company. Dick was an avid golfer and bowler. He devoured books and was a great resource of information on a variety of topics especially his favorite sports teams, the New York Yankees and Duke Blue Devils. He and Lois were lovers of Cape Cod and the family will do a celebration of life at a later time. Special thanks to Simpsonville Post Acute and Open Arms Hospice.
